Little Man 'M'... | Hampton, VA Children's Photographer

Here's one from a quickie session this morning. This little man is the sweetest, chunkiest, most-awesome-cuddliest baby I've had the pleasure of playing with in a while. *Sigh* I totally love my job...

Until next time,

Night

The other night, around 10, we heard a knock on the door... DJ and I both looked at each other... who could be at the door that late?

It was our awesome neighbor. All excited she says, "Look at the moon! Tell Kassia to get her camera and take some pictures!!!"

Hahaha.

Like you'd have to ask me twice.

So I grabbed the camera... and the tripod... and here you have it:

(85mm, ISO 400, f/7.1, 2.5s)

...and then I made DJ be my guinea pig...

(85mm, ISO 400, f/7.1, 10s)

I used the auto timer and then yelled... "Dooon't move! dooon't move... don't-move-don't-move-don't-move-don't-mooooove........... okay. done!" hahaha.

Until next time,
~K

A Quickie... | Hampton Roads Children's Photographer

Just a quick one for you today. Ginormous bathtub, a gorgeous big picture window, seashells, and 3 little blue-eyed kiddos, me barefoot with a camera... *sigh* I was in heaven.

These kids may look vaguely familiar if you've been following my blog for a while... This is the second time I've met them, the first time, was last winter! First, I feel a strange sense of motherly pride after spending time shooting a family... Second, as a result of my strange sense of motherly pride for families I don't know, I begin to refer to them as "my kids" ... Third, they are clearly NOT my kids, so this may officially classify me as strange.

Forgive me. If there's one thing about my kind of portrait photography that I love, it's the fact that, when done right, so much personality conveys via the images. That's what I am addicted to...what I crave. Though I find many posed portrait images beautiful (and, guffaw, yes I even enjoy taking some of those shots...), when everyone is sitting perfect and rigid and posed, you don't see as much of the spirit inside of them, the personality bubbling over in the kids, it's much more fun when it's real... a moment captured.

Good stuff.

Until next time,

Ft. Monroe Marina

The other day before a shoot, I arrived a bit early (I swear...it wasn't that I took a wrong turn and happened upon this place...it was totally planned. Totally) and grabbed a few shots of this little marina. I love early morning light and water...

So beautiful :)

Until next time...

Whitney & John | Hampton Maternity Photography

Let me warn you, I feel some sentimental-emotional stuff comin' on. Just tellin' ya...

I met these two on the beach yesterday morning. The weather was perfect, the light was beautiful, and the beach was empty. I don't think we could have asked for much more.

There's something so amazing about these maternity shoots and the couples that request them. I have been absolutely floored by the amount of emotion my couples have been willing to share with me. It humbles me. So much. I love maternity shots. I love the anticipation and the excitement each couple feels in their own special way for the life that they've created. It's unbelievable.

So here we go...

Whitney is so photogenic. And glowing. She's just glowing!

John... you're not all that bad yourself ;)

Talk about brave. These two got IN the water. It's nice and warm outside here in VA these days, but the water is still C-O-L-D. Troopers! And I didn't even suggest this... nope, this was all their idea! Which is absolutely why they're my new best friends. For ever. And Always. Amen.

Saved this one for last. As I'm editing, this is my favorite so far. I get a little emotional looking at it... I love it. And I wish I had something like this hanging in my room... *sigh* hindsight is 20/20...

Thanks guys for an awesome morning! There are SO MANY more amazing shots. I can't wait to show them to you! Soon... soon!

Until next time,
~ K
