An Evening Maternity Session... Portsmouth Maternity Photography

This gorgeous young lady got in touch with me a few weeks ago asking for some maternity shots... she's an aspiring photographer down in the Elizabeth City area!

We met in downtown Portsmouth and walked around and chatted and had a great time! Granted, it was HOT and HUMID... and I was sweating like stuck pig... but it was fun nonetheless!

So here you go girl, you look GORGEOUS and I can't wait for you to see the rest!

Until next time,

Expecting | Hampton Maternity Photography

There's nothing more fun than talking to a soon-to-be first time mom. They are glowing, beautiful, and are ready to enter a whole new world. It's amazing... and I love it!

Meet Sarah. She's young and excited and about to be the mom to a little boy!

We had a great time together. Many thanks to Anne whose studio we were able to use. And wow. Wow! I am now in love with studio lighting... how dramatic. Oh. Love it.

This is my favorite. Hands down.

And then, of course, we stepped outside for some natural light shots.

So. I do love that studio lighting. But. *OH* nothing can replace my natural light. I love you natural light...

I hope you're having a good week!

Until next time,

~ K

Another Beach Maternity Session | Hampton, VA Maternity Photography

I am loving doing these maternity sessions on the beach! It's just the perfect scenic, serene, and relaxing environment to take gorgeous pictures. This session certainly exemplified that. We were originally scheduled for this weekend, but hubby is headed overseas for work, so we moved the session to yesterday evening... and, well, if you live here, you know that the weather was none too cooperative. SO tonight it was.

And it made me think that all of that rescheduling happened for a reason.

It was beautiful. Warm, but not hot and muggy. Breezy, but not overly windy. The sun was perfect. The light was gorgeous. And where we stopped to take pictures, we could hear a band playing at a club in the background... It was great.

And this couple. You guys are SO. MUCH. FUN! I laughed a lot... this baby will be coming into a wonderful home.

I'm so excited for you! Here's your sneak peek:

There was lots of kissing in this session... I think hubby might've liked his wife or something... :)

Despite the cheesiness of it all, hubby obliged my wishes and bent over to kiss the belly... thank-you for humoring me. Because I freakin' love this shot!!

You guys were great. I have many more to show you... soon soon!

Until next time,
~ K

Whitney & John | Hampton Maternity Photography

Let me warn you, I feel some sentimental-emotional stuff comin' on. Just tellin' ya...

I met these two on the beach yesterday morning. The weather was perfect, the light was beautiful, and the beach was empty. I don't think we could have asked for much more.

There's something so amazing about these maternity shoots and the couples that request them. I have been absolutely floored by the amount of emotion my couples have been willing to share with me. It humbles me. So much. I love maternity shots. I love the anticipation and the excitement each couple feels in their own special way for the life that they've created. It's unbelievable.

So here we go...

Whitney is so photogenic. And glowing. She's just glowing!

John... you're not all that bad yourself ;)

Talk about brave. These two got IN the water. It's nice and warm outside here in VA these days, but the water is still C-O-L-D. Troopers! And I didn't even suggest this... nope, this was all their idea! Which is absolutely why they're my new best friends. For ever. And Always. Amen.

Saved this one for last. As I'm editing, this is my favorite so far. I get a little emotional looking at it... I love it. And I wish I had something like this hanging in my room... *sigh* hindsight is 20/20...

Thanks guys for an awesome morning! There are SO MANY more amazing shots. I can't wait to show them to you! Soon... soon!

Until next time,
~ K

Stephanie & Ricky | An Expecting! Sneak Peek | Hampton Roads Portrait Photography

I had so much fun shooting with this couple the other day. They're young, gorgeous, and excited to be first-time parents to their little girl.

As we were talking I learned so much about them... how they met... what they love...what they do... and it really shows in their photos. This is the part of being a photographer that I didn't realize was so rewarding... the meeting new people part... learning about them and getting little glimpses into their lives.

These two happen to be self-proclaimed beach people and the color scheme in their home reflects it. Cool sea-greens and warm sand colors. Incidentally, Ricky BUILT the house... I was, like, you mean built it-built it? Yes. Everything except a few jobs he contracted out, but not because he COULDN'T do them, but because he didn't FEEL like it. This, ladies is a Jack-of-all-trades, and he is SO taken. :) And the decorations in the house were spot-on. No too much, perfect matching tones and colors. You walk in and instantly feel at home and comfortable. They've really done a great job with their house. That little girl is going to have a warm and loving place to call home when she arrives.

It was a gorgeous day, their windows were open, a breeze was blowing and it was just all-around perfect.

We started out at home for a few shots in their little girl's room...

This one took my breath away when I saw it. It. Is. So. Perfect! There is so much written in the expressions on their faces and their body language. When I chatter on about 'a moment captured' THIS is what I'm talking about.

What's a maternity shoot without a belly pic? And let's all talk about how gorgeous Stephanie looks... she's only about a month away from her due date and, uhm, does anyone else see any stretch marks?! No. I did NOT photoshop them out...this is prime genetics at work here. Let's just press on lest we incite violence among other females...

After hanging around their house, we made our way over to the park for a few outdoor shots.

They are so cute together it hurts. Aches. Pains. I love it.

Stephanie, I'm still working on the rest of the edits, I should be done soon, but I wanted you to have something to look at! I had a great time with you guys... check your email in a few days!!!

Until next time,

~ K
