Sunglasses can be fun...

So for those of you without kids... or even for those of you with those awesome things called "girl children" that I know nothing about (ahem).... life with all boys is rather, uhm, interesting. Often laugh-out-loud hilarious, often crazy frustrating, and usually very very LOUD. But. Always. Interesting. My three boys can make anything interesting.

Exhibit A

Always interesting... :) And this was when we went to eat at Chili's (taken with our point and shoot)... what you don't hear is Noah's incessant staccato yells, "Eh! Eh! Eh! Eh!" If the other boys are wearing sunglasses, he MUST as well... yet there were only 2 pair. Hence the yelling.

See, LOUD.

Picture Day

... is everyday at my house...

BUT at school, that's a different story. So, like any good mom, I subjected my son to a torturous few minutes of hair coiffing so that he would look "just right"... Or not. Or super cute. Or just like my trey-trey should.

When exactly did he get so big?

Oh and just so you know... the blue socks, those were Trey's idea...

Until next time,

My New Favorite Picture... of all time. Ever. And Always.

DJ will probably have a conniption... he hates when I post bath pictures on the big-scary-internet. But I JUST. HAVE. TO.

See.

*Sigh*

These days of little boys will not last forever...

Until Next time,

Bubble

Last weekend, in an effort to entertain the children on a rainy dreary Saturday afternoon, my friend and I took our kids to the Children's Museum in Portsmouth. It's a great place where they can run around, touch as many things as they like... and maybe, just maybe, learn something too.

Well, I don't know if Trey learned much as he was running from one exhibit to the other pushing as many buttons as he possibly could...and then moving on. It went something like this...

TREY: "Mama! Mama...what does this one say?"

I would begin reading the display... then *swwooosh* he was off and running again...

TREY: "Hey Mama! Come HEEEERE! Hurry! Look at this!"

*banging, flipping, pushing*

TREY: "What does this one say?"

ME (reading): "The concept of static electricity..."

*swwwoooosh* Gone. Again.

TREY: "Hey Mama! OVER HEEERE!" "Hey, what does this button do? Can I take this home?"

ME: "Well it says here that if you push this...."

*swwoooosh*

Okay. You get the idea. And I didn't even add in Noah's pointed observations... "EH! EHHHHH! EH EH! EH EH!" So, by the end of the afternoon I was tired. So tired.

But here's a cool picture from the Bubble exhibit...

Yep, that's my boy, IN a bubble... :)

Until next time,

He will turn blue soon...

Well, the new favorite food is blueberries. A few weeks ago it was Chik Patties (those Morningstar fake chicken things. holy god they're good). He eats them ALL the time. It's really dern cute if you ask me...

..of course... the other side of the blueberry addiction is, well, the other side... Uhm. Diapers are not so much fun around here. Just thought you should know...

On that note,
Have a wonderful Saturday evening!

Photo of the Day: Last Night

It was gorgeous yesterday. The weather was perfect and warm and wonderful.

DJ and I were sitting on our teeny little brick porch (more like steps) around 9 or so and I looked up and the moon and the clouds and the reflection on the water all just came together... in such a way that... ohmigod-where's-the-camera-I-hope-it's-not-upstairs-in-the-bedroom-where-the-baby's-sleeping-I-must-find-the-camera-don't-you-understand?!... occurred. Sigh.

Alas, the cold, rainy, dreary weather is back. But this... this was nice :)

Until next time,

Stephanie & Ricky | An Expecting! Sneak Peek | Hampton Roads Portrait Photography

I had so much fun shooting with this couple the other day. They're young, gorgeous, and excited to be first-time parents to their little girl.

As we were talking I learned so much about them... how they met... what they love...what they do... and it really shows in their photos. This is the part of being a photographer that I didn't realize was so rewarding... the meeting new people part... learning about them and getting little glimpses into their lives.

These two happen to be self-proclaimed beach people and the color scheme in their home reflects it. Cool sea-greens and warm sand colors. Incidentally, Ricky BUILT the house... I was, like, you mean built it-built it? Yes. Everything except a few jobs he contracted out, but not because he COULDN'T do them, but because he didn't FEEL like it. This, ladies is a Jack-of-all-trades, and he is SO taken. :) And the decorations in the house were spot-on. No too much, perfect matching tones and colors. You walk in and instantly feel at home and comfortable. They've really done a great job with their house. That little girl is going to have a warm and loving place to call home when she arrives.

It was a gorgeous day, their windows were open, a breeze was blowing and it was just all-around perfect.

We started out at home for a few shots in their little girl's room...

This one took my breath away when I saw it. It. Is. So. Perfect! There is so much written in the expressions on their faces and their body language. When I chatter on about 'a moment captured' THIS is what I'm talking about.

What's a maternity shoot without a belly pic? And let's all talk about how gorgeous Stephanie looks... she's only about a month away from her due date and, uhm, does anyone else see any stretch marks?! No. I did NOT photoshop them out...this is prime genetics at work here. Let's just press on lest we incite violence among other females...

After hanging around their house, we made our way over to the park for a few outdoor shots.

They are so cute together it hurts. Aches. Pains. I love it.

Stephanie, I'm still working on the rest of the edits, I should be done soon, but I wanted you to have something to look at! I had a great time with you guys... check your email in a few days!!!

Until next time,

The 'H' Fam... | Hampton Roads Photographer

Once again, as I delve into the depths of my 'Pictures' folder on the computer, I realized I never blogged this session. This was one of my favorites...hello! What happened?

Oh, wait. A PCS happened.

But nevermind all that, here they are.

This family got it RIGHT with outfits. I love that they aren't ALL wearing the same colors, but they all go together so nicely. They're my example of what to wear... Love it. Oh, yeah, and they're flippin' beautiful. ahhh... :)

These kind of smiles make my day.

This has to be one of my favorite images of all my shoots. I use it ALL the time in my promo materials. I love that it's a moment captured...

...and this one... reminds me of me with my boys...

It wouldn't be a Kassia shoot without a baby-in-the-air picture!

During the shoot the boys were pining away for the swings, so after all the family shots, we released them to the swwwinngs!! It was fun. And, you know what, the best shots ALWAYS come when everyone forgets about the camera and just... has...fun!

Yay. Good stuff.

Until next time,

Photo of the Day: SNOW!

There's something about a peaceful snowfall that makes me smile.

When we woke up early this morning there was a fresh layer of powdery snow on the ground... after breakfast and after DJ went off to work, I snapped a few quick pictures and then sat in the rocking chair in front of our big picture window with my cup of coffee and watched it fall.

I think Trey summed it up best when he looked outside and gasped, "Aawwessomme!"

All our friends around the southeast, I know you're enjoying this too :)

Photo of the Day: Play

Play is important.

Especially for kids. Especially for my uber-energetic, always busy, busy, busy kids...

I know I've said this before, but the best part of being back stateside is being close to family and friends.

Recently one of DJ's cousins came down for the day to play and hang out with Trey... he was in hog heaven.

I love his face when he plays outside with the boys, he's just so happy.

I hope everyone has a good Monday. We're rooting for some snow around here!
